Sheridan Edition Belico Hat | Premium Handcrafted Felt Fedora
The Sheridan Edition is our heritage Western fedora, handcrafted from 100% pure beaver felt for a silhouette that holds shape season after season. We built this hat for the rider, the rancher, and the downtown professional who refuses to compromise on quality. The wide brim offers sun protection without sacrificing style, while the grosgrain ribbon band and leather sweatband ensure all-day comfort.

We use 100% beaver felt for the Sheridan Edition because it outperforms every alternative. Beaver fur fibers lock together tighter than wool, creating a felt body that resists pilling, holds its shape through years of wear, and sheds water naturally. The result is a hat that softens with age without losing structure.

Sizing & Fit Details
The Sheridan Edition runs true to size across our standard range: 6⅞ through 7⅞ in ⅛-inch increments. Measure your head circumference just above the ears with a soft tape—round up to the nearest ⅛ inch if you fall between sizes. The leather sweatband will conform to your head shape over the first two weeks of wear, creating a custom fit that stays secure in wind without pinching.
Crown height is 4.5 inches at the center crease, with a 3.5-inch brim that you can shape to your preference. The wire brim edge holds whatever curve you set—snap it down in front for a classic cattleman look, or leave it flat for a more formal silhouette. If you’re between sizes or new to felt hats, we recommend sizing up—felt compresses slightly with humidity and wear.

Care & Maintenance
Daily Handling
Always lift the Sheridan by the brim, never the crown. Pinching the crown repeatedly will weaken the felt and distort the crease over time. When you’re not wearing it, store the hat upside down on its crown or on a proper hat rack—never hang it by the brim, which will cause it to droop.
Cleaning & Weather
Brush the felt weekly with a soft horsehair brush, moving counterclockwise to lift dust without damaging fibers. Light rain won’t hurt the water-resistant finish, but if the hat gets soaked, let it air-dry at room temperature away from direct heat. Never use a hairdryer or leave it in a hot car. For stubborn stains or deep cleaning, bring it to a professional hat cleaner—home steam can ruin the blocking.

Questions About the Sheridan Edition
Beaver felt is denser, softer, and more water-resistant than wool felt. The fibers interlock more tightly, which means the hat holds its shape longer and resists wear better over time. Wool felt is a great entry point, but beaver felt is the premium choice for a hat you plan to wear for decades.
The Sheridan Edition uses 100% beaver felt, so you’re getting the highest-grade material available. It costs more upfront, but the durability and feel justify the investment if you wear hats regularly.
Yes—the wire brim edge is designed to hold whatever shape you set. You can snap the front down for a classic Western curve, leave it flat for a more formal look, or shape the sides up for extra sun protection. Just bend it slowly and evenly to avoid kinking the wire.
If you want to change the crown crease, we recommend bringing it to a professional hat shop with a steamer and blocking equipment. Attempting to re-crease it at home without proper tools can damage the felt.
The hat has a water-resistant finish that sheds light rain and morning dew without issue. You can wear it in drizzle or brief showers, and the felt will dry naturally without losing shape. However, it’s not waterproof—extended exposure to heavy rain will eventually soak through.
If the hat gets wet, let it air-dry at room temperature on its crown. Never use direct heat or leave it in a car on a hot day, which can shrink the felt and ruin the blocking.
Round up to the next ⅛-inch size if your head circumference falls between standard sizes. The leather sweatband will compress slightly as it molds to your head over the first couple weeks, so a hat that feels snug at first will become comfortably secure.
If you’re still unsure, contact us with your exact measurement and we’ll recommend the best fit based on your head shape and how you plan to wear the hat.
The leather sweatband takes about two weeks of regular wear to fully conform to your head. During that time, the hat may feel slightly firm, but it shouldn’t pinch or cause discomfort. Once broken in, the sweatband creates a custom fit that stays secure without pressure points.
The beaver felt itself doesn’t require break-in—it’s soft and pliable from day one. The overall shape and structure remain consistent throughout the hat’s life.
Yes—the unlined construction and breathable beaver felt make it suitable for warm weather. The wide brim provides excellent sun protection, and the felt wicks moisture away from your forehead better than synthetic materials. Many of our customers wear the Sheridan year-round in hot climates.
That said, any felt hat will be warmer than straw or mesh. If you’re working outdoors in extreme heat, you might want a lighter option for peak summer months.
We stand behind the craftsmanship of every Sheridan Edition. If you discover a defect in materials or construction within the first year, we’ll repair or replace the hat at no charge. Normal wear and tear, accidental damage, and improper care aren’t covered, but we’re always happy to discuss repair options.
Because each hat is handcrafted in limited runs, we keep detailed records of every production batch. Your order number and hat serial number give us the full history of your piece.
