Murakami Collaboration Belico Hat | Limited-Edition Artist Series
We partnered with renowned contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create this one-of-a-kind structured six-panel cap that merges fine-art embroidery with our signature headwear construction. Each Belico Hats Murakami piece features hand-digitized rainbow flower motifs adapted from Murakami’s iconic visual language, embroidered in 12-color thread on premium 100% cotton twill. The collaboration bridges streetwear and gallery-level artistry with a design that sits at the intersection of Japanese pop surrealism and California skate culture.

The front panel showcases a 3.5-inch rainbow flower motif digitized directly from Murakami’s original artwork, executed in 12 individual thread colors to preserve the vibrancy and gradient depth of his paintings. Our embroidery partner in Tokyo ran 47 test samples to match the exact Pantone values Murakami’s studio specified, resulting in a level of color accuracy you won’t find on mass-market collaborations.

Sizing, Fit & Care Instructions
This cap fits crown circumferences from 21.5 to 24 inches via the adjustable buckle closure at the back. The unstructured six-panel design sits lower on the head than a traditional five-panel trucker, creating a relaxed silhouette that works equally well with tailored jackets or casual streetwear. We pre-curved the brim to a medium arc, but the PE insert allows you to reshape it to your preference without creasing the fabric.
To preserve the embroidery and water-repellent finish, spot-clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap — never machine wash or submerge the hat. Store it on a curved cap form or stuff the crown with acid-free tissue to maintain its shape between wears. The cotton twill will soften naturally over the first month of regular use while the structure remains intact. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when not wearing the hat, as UV can fade the thread colors over time.

What’s Included With Your Murakami Hat
Each numbered hat ships in a custom co-branded box featuring Murakami’s signature rainbow gradient on the exterior and our Belico crest embossed in matte varnish. Inside you’ll find the cap itself wrapped in archival tissue, a heavy-stock certificate of authenticity numbered to match your hat, and a collector card with notes from both Murakami and our creative director about the collaboration’s design process.
We also include a microfiber storage pouch for travel and a care instruction card printed on recycled cotton paper. The certificate features holographic security elements and can be registered on our website to verify provenance if you ever decide to resell the piece. This packaging mirrors the unboxing experience of a limited-edition art print, because we designed this collaboration to live at the intersection of wearable craft and fine art.

Your Questions About The Murakami Collaboration Hat
Yes, this is an officially licensed collaboration co-designed with Takashi Murakami’s studio in Tokyo. Every hat includes a certificate of authenticity signed by both the artist’s team and our creative director, and the embroidery artwork was digitized directly from Murakami’s original files with his approval at every stage of production.
We produced exactly 500 numbered hats for this collaboration, with no plans to restock once they sell out. Each piece is individually numbered on the certificate of authenticity and registered in our archive. You can verify your hat’s number and provenance on our website using the serial code printed inside the sweatband.
Spot-clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap to preserve both the 12-color embroidery and the water-repellent finish on the cotton twill. Never machine wash, soak, or dry-clean the hat. Store it on a curved form or stuff the crown with acid-free tissue between wears, and keep it out of direct sunlight when not in use to prevent thread fading over time.
Most brand collaborations print artwork onto fabric or use single-color embroidery. We worked directly with Murakami’s studio for six months to hand-digitize his rainbow flower in 12 individual thread colors, matching the exact Pantone values of his paintings. The result is embroidery that preserves the gradient depth and vibrancy of his original fine art, plus hidden details like the underbill flower that Murakami himself requested.
Every Murakami hat ships in a custom co-branded box with the artist’s rainbow gradient design, and includes a numbered certificate of authenticity, a collector card with design notes from Murakami and our team, a microfiber storage pouch, and a care instruction card. The certificate features holographic security elements and can be registered on our site to verify authenticity.
The antique brass buckle adjusts to fit crown circumferences from 21.5 to 24 inches, which covers most adults including larger head sizes. The unstructured six-panel design also sits lower and more relaxed than a fitted cap, so it won’t feel tight across the forehead. If you’re between sizes or prefer a looser fit, this construction style will work well for you.
We designed it to be worn regularly, not kept in a box. The cotton twill is durable and the embroidery thread is commercial-grade, so normal daily wear won’t damage it. That said, treat it like any premium garment — spot-clean as needed, avoid harsh weather, and store it properly between wears. Many customers rotate it into their weekly lineup without issue, and the materials will actually soften and improve with gentle use over time.
