Lucky Edition Belico Hat | Official Belico Hats
Our Lucky Edition Belico Hat is handwoven from premium palm straw with a structured cattleman crown and a signature lucky charm band detail. We designed this western-style hat for riders, ranchers, and anyone who lives by the philosophy that fortune favors the bold.

We source our palm straw from sustainable plantations in Oaxaca, where artisans hand-split and sun-dry the fiber before weaving each hat on wooden blocks. The natural cellular structure of palm creates tiny air channels that release heat and moisture, keeping your head cool even when the mercury climbs past 95°F.

Sizing, fit & comfort features
The Lucky Edition ships in a universal 7–7⅝ size range, adjustable via the interior drawstring system. Pull the cord to tighten the sweatband around your forehead; the leather conforms to your head shape after a few wears, creating a custom fit that won’t slip during fast work.
Our leather sweatband runs 1.25 inches wide and includes a moisture-wicking cotton backing that prevents sweat stains from reaching the outer straw. The braided chin cord attaches at two reinforced grommets behind the brim and slides through a wooden bead toggle, so you can secure the hat in gusty conditions without choking your neck.

Lucky charm tradition & styling
The brass horseshoe medallion on our Lucky Edition references the old vaquero custom of tying talismans to hat bands before long cattle drives. Cowboys believed an upward-facing horseshoe held luck inside, while a downward shoe let fortune pour out onto the wearer. We mount ours points-up, hand-stitching the charm through the grosgrain so it stays secure even when you’re moving fast.
The natural palm colorway pairs with denim, canvas work shirts, and leather vests. For formal ranch events, swap in a black grosgrain band (sold separately) to dress up the look. The cattleman crease — a single center dent with flanking pinches — originated in Texas feedlots and remains the most recognized western crown shape today.

Lucky Edition Belico Hat buyer questions
Palm straw is naturally water-resistant but not fully waterproof. Light rain will bead off the tight weave, but prolonged exposure will soak the fibers and may cause the brim to droop. If you get caught in a downpour, shake off excess water and let the hat air-dry at room temperature. Never use a hairdryer or place it near a heater, as high heat can warp the shape.
The Lucky Edition includes an adjustable drawstring system that fits head circumferences from 22 to 23.5 inches (hat sizes 7 through 7⅝). Measure around your forehead just above your eyebrows with a soft tape measure to find your size. If you fall between sizes, the leather sweatband will stretch slightly during the break-in period to conform to your exact head shape.
Yes. Hold the brim over steam from a kettle or pot of boiling water for 15–20 seconds to soften the fibers, then gently press the brim into your desired curve. Use both hands to shape it evenly and hold the curve for a few seconds until the straw cools. The palm fibers are flexible and will hold the new shape once dry.
The brass charm will develop a natural patina after several months of wear, which many customers prefer for a vintage look. If you want to keep it polished, wipe the medallion with a soft cloth dipped in lemon juice or commercial brass cleaner every few weeks. The charm is hand-stitched through the band and can be removed if you prefer a plain grosgrain look.
The lucky charm detail is unique to our Lucky Edition and references traditional vaquero hat customs. Beyond the symbolic horseshoe, we use the same high-density palm weave and quality leather sweatband found in premium western hats that cost twice as much. The combination of craftsmanship, fit adjustability, and durable materials makes this hat a reliable choice for serious outdoor wear.
Store the hat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Never hang it by the brim, as this will cause the edges to warp over time. Instead, rest it crown-down on a flat surface or hang it by the interior drawstring loop. If you’re traveling, use the original hatbox or a rigid hat carrier to protect the shape during transport.
Palm straw is best suited for warm weather because it offers excellent ventilation and sun protection. In cooler months, pair it with a jacket or vest for early-morning rides when temperatures are mild. For cold-weather riding, we recommend switching to a wool felt hat that provides insulation. The Lucky Edition works year-round in southern climates where winter temps stay above 50°F.
